Se diferencian tres zonas: capsula epitelial, zona externa y zona interna. La capsula conectiva emite trabeculas que forman una trama paralela al epitelio timico, que separa parcialmente al parenquima de la capsula epitelial y de la zona externa.  filogeneticamente, esta estructura representa una etapa en el proceso de interiorizacion del timo.  el estroma epitelio reticular esta constituido por celulas epitelio reticulares (cer) limitantes, claras, intermedias y oscuras. Las cer claras establecen estrechas relaciones con los linfocitos. Las cer intermedias, que no han sido identificadas con anterioridad en el timo de peces, envuelven a los linfocitos con su citoplasma y posiblemente tengan una funcionalidad equivalente a las celulas \u00abnurse\u00bb de timo de vertebrados superiores. En las cer claras y oscuras si se forman cavidades quisticas intracitoplasmaticas. No hay corpusculos de hassall ni cavidades quisticas o estructuras similares.  los linfoblastos aparecen, principalmente, en la zona externa superficial y en la zona interna adyacente a la capsula conectiva, formando areas similares a las descritas en la region subcapsular de la corteza timica de vertebrados superiores. No hemos observado celulas plasmaticas; sin embargo, existe una subpoblacion de linfocitos con inmunoglobulinas de superficie. Las celulas linfoides sufren procesos de muerte celular programada por apoptosis, que no ha sido descrita previamente en el timo de peces y que indica la existencia de procesos de seleccion negativa durante la diferenciacion intratimica de los linfocitos. Tambien se observan areas de necrobiosis. Existen celulas interdigitadas, no descritas previamente en el timo de peces.  hay areas mielopoyeticas, con actividad eritropoyetica y granulopoyet<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos acad\u00e9micos de
