Sobre esta base, la investigacion realizada responde a dos objetivos de gran interes teorico y practico para el aprendizaje inicial de la lectura el primero de ellos se ha centrado en la exploracion en el desarrollo de la conciencia fonologico silabica en ni\u00f1os prelectores y lectores principiantes (entre cuatro y ocho a\u00f1os de edad), y el segundo en el establecimiento de las relaciones entre el desarrollo y la adquisicion temprana de la lectura.  la administracion de un conjunto de tareas de segmentacion fonologica aporta evidencia empirica indicativa del temprano desarrollo de la conciencia silabica en ni\u00f1os prelectores asi como de su fuerte crecimiento durante los a\u00f1os preescolares. Los resultados obtenidos muestran ademas que a lo largo de tal desarrollo se suceden dos niveles de habilidad que experimentan ritmos de crecimiento diferenciados. El primer nivel aporta una habilidad basica de atencion y percepcion de las unidades silabicas de las palabras, mientras que el segundo parece implicar algun tipo de representacion mental de las unidades segmentadas.  acerca de las relaciones entre el desarrollo de las habilidades de segmentacion silabica y la adquisicion de la lectura, los resultados de un seguimiento longitudinal realizado durante dos cursos escolares sobre tres cohortes de sujetos (de 4, 5 y 6 a\u00f1os, al comienzo del estadio) muestran que la conciencia fonologico-silabica se encuentra implicada causalmente en las
