El fracaso en matematicas. Las matematicas y las teorias cognitivas del aprendizaje. Estrategias de aprendizaje. Ambitos del conocimiento matematico); la segunda es teorico-practica y en la tercera parte se presenta el estudio empirico en dos capitulos. La parte teorico-practica esta formada por el capitulo titulado el valor heuristico de las matematicas.  los objetivos de esta investigacion son los siguientes: 1) determinar la edad en la que los ni\u00f1os del primer ciclo de primaria adquieren los contenidos matematicos, 2) estructurar y secuenciar las matematicas del primer ciclo de primaria, 3) identificar estrategias de aprendizaje, 4) demostrar que la matematica es un programa idoneo para ense\u00f1ar a pensar y 5) evaluar los efectos del programa de intervencion. Dando respuesta a los objetivos, se determina la edad de adquisicion de los contenidos matematicos en los ni\u00f1os de 6 a 8 a\u00f1os, considerandose contenido adquirido el que es aprendido por mas del 80% y edad de adquisicion la cota superior del intervalo. Se clasifican las estrategias de aprendizaje en explicitas, implicitas y de apoyo.
