Ha sido aislado su gen estructural por complementacion funcional. Se ha realizado la caracterizacion del mismo.  asi, se ha localizado en el cromosoma x de la levadura, se ha identificado su arn mensajero de 2,1 kb y se ha construido un mutante nulo sustituyendo en una cepa salvaje la copia genomica por otra delecionada. Se ha realizado la secuenciacion del gen con un tama\u00f1o de 1728 pares de bases y que codifica a una proteina de 576 aminoacidos y 64500 da. Mediante analisis western se han detectado 3 bandas de proteina de 76, 74 y 73 kda. Se ha estudiado la expresion del gen en diferentes situaciones metabolicas. Esta expresion esta sometida a represion por nitrogeno y solo se produce la desrepresion en presencia de una fuente de carbono facilmente fermentable como glucosa o fructosa, elevandose mas de 10 veces los niveles de transcricion del gen.
