Desde un punto de vista historico, se pueden establecer cuatro fases: la genesis del certamen (1909-1914), el parentesis de la guerra y los a\u00f1os posteriores (1914-1922), el impulso hacia la concurrencia (1922-1929) y el desarrollo y la crisis de la muestra (1929-1930).  en los distintos proyectos de emplazamiento general habidos desde 1909, la ubicacion de estos edificios fue muy variada. Finalmente, la e.I.A. No respondio a lo habitual en certamenes exposicionales, pues en sevilla no existio una calle de las naciones que era lo frecuente en las exposiciones universales. Se realiza un estudio de los edificios desde un punto de vista historico y artistico (arquitectonico y decorativo) se distingue entre edificios nacionalistas y nacionales o representativos. Los primeros son los mas complejos, pues en ellos hay un interesante programa iconografico e iconologico, que en todos los casos se basa en la exaltacion del concepto de raza, en sus distintas variantes nacionales.
