Material y metodos: hemos analizado en 62 rn, de forma simultanea en sangre y lcr, las concentraciones de sodio, potasio, cloro, glucosa, urea, creatinina, lactato, gap anionico, urato, calcio ionico, magnesio, proteinas totales, equilibrio acido-base y oximetria.  resultados: hemos podido comprobar que las concentraciones de potasio, gap anionico, lactato y p02 en lcr son relativamente independientes. En la meningitis aguda existe una importante repercusion sobre el ph licuoral, lo que al no ocurrir en otros procesos patologicos, confiere gran valor a este parametro en el diagnostico precoz de la misma. Las modificaciones observadas del gap anionico y el lactato en lcr fueron muy semejantes, ademas existio una adecuada correlacion entre sus concentraciones (r=0,69 p 0,0000). Concluyendo que pueden ser utilizadas indistintamente. El gap anionico y el urato fueron los parametros que con mayor frecuencia se alteraron en lcr entre neonatos con patolog\u00eda del snc. Ninguna de las alteraciones bioquimicas observadas permitio anticipar el pronostico neurologico a medio plazo con mayor precision que las alteraciones electroencefalograficas junto a la adecuada
