Dicho viroide es el segundo miembro de un subgrupo de viroides con capacidad de autocortarse \u00abin vitro\u00bb a traves de estructuras de cabeza de martillo, un mecanismo que muy probablemente juega un papel \u00abin vivo\u00bb en el procesamiento de los intermediarios oligomericos de la replicacion. Un analisis filogenetico ha mostrado que este viroide junto con el viroide del manchado solar del aguacate, puede representar un nexo evolutivo entre viroides tipicos y rnas satelites tipo viroide. En una segunda parte del trabajo se ha identificado un viroide como el agente etiologico de la enfermedad de los chancros pustulosos del peral. Este viroide presenta una estructura quimerica constituida por segmentos de secuencias que presentan una alta homolog\u00eda con otros viroides descritos previamente, lo que sugiere un origen por recombinacion entre viroides que se replican en la misma celula huesped para esta molecula. Un analisis filogenetico ha apoyado la inclusion del viroide de los chancros pustulosos del peral dentro del subgrupo de los apscaviroides cuyo miembro tipo es el viroide de la piel cicatrizada de la
