Frecuentemente, nos encontramos con la necesidad de implementar algoritmos de proceso digital de imagenes para verificar su correcta actuacion y rendimiento. A continuacion presentamos un sistema de desarrollo de bajo coste que proporciona un repertorio de funciones c ampliado y que permite la verificacion y evaluacion de algoritmos secuenciales y paralelos, incluyendo herramientas de visualizacion e impresion.  existen sistemas soportados por arquitecturas propietarias y sistemas basados en arquitectura estandar pero con un coste prohivitivo para centros de investigacion con escasos recursos. En nuestro caso, eppi se basa en un computador estandar con sistema operativo unix y monitor grafico. Teniendo en cuenta la necesidad computacional de los algoritmos de vision incluso en bajo nivel, necesitamos caracteristicas de maquinas paralelas para ejecutar algoritmos en tiempo real. Nuestro entorno nos va a permitir depurar dichos algoritmos paralelos, evaluando su rendimiento y eficiencia en diferentes topolog\u00edas.  se incluyen estudios de evaluaciones de algoritmos de bajo nivel con los que se demuestran las posibilidades que ofrece el sistema para futuros trabajos de investigacion, al tiempo que realizan aportaciones al procesamiento digital de
