Esta teoria combina la sencillez del algebra ortogonal con la \u00abtransferibilidad\u00bb de la formulacion no ortogonal. Hemos demostrado la aplicabilidad del metodo a traves del calculo de la estructura de bandas en ni fcc y si \u00abdiamante\u00bb, y del calculo de la estructura electronica en agregados de 13 atomos de ni y si.  hemos estudiado el efecto de los electrones sp en el magnetismo de agregados atomicos peque\u00f1os de fe y cr.  ademas, hemos investigado las propiedades magneticas (momentos magneticos locales, orden magnetico) en los siguientes sistemas: agregados mezcla de fe y cr; sistema semi-infinito de fe (001); sistema formado por deposicion de varias capas de cr(fe) sobre el sustrato de fe(cr) (001); peliculas delgadas y superredes de fe\/cr y fe\/v; superficies de fe(001) e interfases v\/fe (001) con estructura de terrazas. Para estos estudios hemos realizado un calculo autoconsistente donde las interacciones electronicas han sido tenidas en cuenta dentro de una aproximacion de campo medio.
