El aguera es un rio de aguas limpias que muestra gradientes longitudinales acusados, como reflejo de los cambios en la litolog\u00eda y los usos del suelo. El ciclo anual es poco marcado. Los nucleos urbanos producen una degradacion en las condiciones del agua, pero la capacidad autodepuradora del rio es elevada. La variabilidad nictemeral es muy importante en tramos medios y refleja la incidencia del metabolismo de la comunidad. La biomasa perifitica aumenta rio abajo, alcanzando su maximo por debajo de trucios.
