Desde un punto de vista aplicado, el inter\u00e9s reside en que cuanto menores son las dimensiones de los sistemas magn\u00e9ticos, mayor es la capacidad de almacenamiento de informaci\u00f3n, por ejemplo, en discos duros. Desde un punto de vista b\u00e1sico, el inter\u00e9s viene dado por la posibilidad de la aparici\u00f3n de nueva fenomenolog\u00eda f\u00edsica.En ese sentido, la reducci\u00f3n de las dimensiones de estas estructuras magn\u00e9ticas, o de su coherencia cristalina, a dimensiones del orden de longitudes relevantes en el magenetismo tales como la longitud de correlaci\u00f3n de canje (14 nm) permite esperar modificaciones en las propiedades magn\u00e9ticas de estos sistemas en funci\u00f3n de su tama\u00f1o.  el trabajo de tesis se ha estructurado en tres partes. En la primera se estudia c\u00f3mo controlar la estructura y la morfolog\u00eda de un sistema met\u00e1lico modelo crecido sobre un aislante seleccionando adecuadamente la temperatura de deposici\u00f3n y la orietaci\u00f3n del substrato.  aplicando estos conocimientos, se ha procedido a la fabricai\u00f3n de pel\u00edculas delgadas de fe a las que se incopora nitr\u00f3geno en cantidades y homogeneidades variables. La nitruraci\u00f3n da lugar a fuertes disminuciones en la imanaci\u00f3n de saturaci\u00f3n y en la constante de anisotrop\u00eda magneto-cristalina, mientras que una nitruraci\u00f3n inhomog\u00e9nea se ha demostrado c\u00f3mo produce supresiones del acoplo por canje a bajas temperaturas, en particular, un aumento de la resistividad cuando se reduce la temperatura de media. Mediante espectroscopia magneto-\u00f3ptica y c\u00e1lculos te\u00f3ricos de primeros principios se han estudiado posibles modificaciones de la estructura electr\u00f3nica debidas a la distoris\u00f3n generada por la incorporaci\u00f3n de nitr\u00f3geno, llegando a la conclusi\u00f3n de que el efecto de nitruraci\u00f3n domina al de distorison pura de la red de fe.  finalmente, se han
