A cada individuo (22 trabajadores y 22 controles) se les ha practicado: cariotipo con tecnica de bandas gtg, cbg y estudio de 100 metafases con sce (sister chromatid exchanges), atendiendo al numero de intercambios y a las posibles alteraciones cromosomicas. Todos los cariotipos presentaron un numero y formula normal de 46,xx o 46,xy respectivamente.  los resultados obtenidos respecto a la tecnica de sce muestran diferencias estadisticamente significativas en cuanto al numero de sce y de alteraciones cromosomicas entre el grupo oxido de etileno y el control.  estos resultados apoyan el hecho de que el oxido de etileno actua como un agente mutagenico, y la eficacia de la tecnica de sce para su estudio.
