La induccion de estos genes depende de secuencias promotoras y regiones reguladoras, ambas con gran polimorfismo. El objetivo es investigar si un umbral mas bajo de expresion de clase ii es un factor patogenico en la enfermedad de graves y si es un fenomeno intrinseco de los tirocitos o se debe la influencias ambientales.  tirocitos de pacientes con enfermedad de graves y bocio multinodular fueron estimulados con interferon-y. Los resultados indican que existe una hiperinducibilidad de clase ii en la enfermedad de graves que no se relaciona con diferencias en la induccion de hla en macrofagos, cambios en el numero de receptores de interferon-y; niveles sericos de ac contra el receptor de la tsh o diferente infiltracion linfocitaria de la glandula.  unicamente existe una cierta tendencia a que los individuos portadores del alelo dq3 sean los mas hiperinducibles aunque el peque\u00f1o numero de casos hace que no sea estadisticamente significativa.  se concluye que la hiperinducibilidad de clase ii es una propiedad intrinseca de los tirocitos en la enfermedad de graves.  el defecto podria estar localizado en los genes que regulan la expresion de moleculas de hla de clase
