El serogrupo predominante fue el b(81,3%), seguido del c(17.1%), destacando un aumento de la incidencia de este serogrupo en los ultimos a\u00f1os. Dentro del serogrupo b, el serotipo predominante ha sido el 15, seguido del 4 y no tipables; en el serogrupo c, la mayoria fueron del serotipo 2.  la preValencia de cepas moderadamente resistentes a penicilina (cmi 0.12 ug\/ml) fue de un 48%. La resistencia moderada a penicilina presenta una mayor proporcion dentro del serogrupo c.  las cepas mod. Resistentes a penicilina mostraron resistencia cruzada con ampicilina, oxacilina, cefoxitina, cefuroxima y cefotaxima, pero no con ceftriaxone, imipenem, aztreonam, cloranfenicol, rifampicina, eritromicina y tetraciclina.  estas cepas pueden detectarse facilmente en el laboratorio clinico, por el metodo de difusion en disco, con los discos de oxacilina lug y penicilina 20-u, para las cepas sensibles un halo 11mm y 28mm y para las cepas resistentes un halo 10mm y 26mm, respectivamente.  para conocer la diversidad del gen pena, se amplifico mediante las tecnicas de pcr y analisis posterior de los perfiles de restriccion, demostrando que las cepas sensibles presentan una gran conservacion del gen pena, en comparacion con las resistentes que son muy distintos y diversos entre
