Se han determinado los contenidos en proteinas, principales aminoacidos y actividad peroxidasa de dichos extractos, asi como su efecto en la reversion expontanea de las cepas ta98 y ta100 en el test de ames. En ambas cepas se ha observado un aumento de la reversion relacionado con la cantidad de extracto. El aumento de la reversion detectado en la cepa ta98, es debido al efecto nutricional de la histidina presente en los extractos.  por otro lado se ha demostrado que la activacion metabolica de la 4-nitro-o-fenilendiamina y del 2-aminofluoreno por la fraccion s2, es independiente del citrocromo p-450 y parece estar relacionada con actividades peroxidativas. Al comparar la activacion metabolica producida por los extractos de zea mays con la producida por la fraccion s9 de higado de rata, se observaron diferencias de activacion en varios compuestos. Por ultimo, los plaguicidas ferbam, thiram y ziram, resultaron unicamente mutagenicos con la cepa ta98, en presencia de la fraccion s9 de zea mays.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos acad\u00e9micos de
