Aparte de estos siliciuros metalicos, existen otros siliciuros que son semiconductores. Entre estos, cabe destacar el b-fesi2. Este compuesto ha merecido ultimamente gran atencion debido a que posee un gap directo de 0.85 ev, con un considerable interes para el desarrollo de detectores y emisores de luz en el infrarrojo.  en este trabajo de investigacion se ha estudiado la formacion de siliciuros de hierro sobre si(100) y si(111). Se ha encontrado los rangos de estabilidad de los diversos siliciuros de hierro estables en volumen. El crecimiento de las peliculas de siliciuros se ha efectuado por medio de epitaxia de fase solida y epitaxia de deposicion reactiva. Se ha encontrado la formacion de fases metaestables de siliciuros de hierro sobre si(111).  se ha observado tambien una transicion de fase estructural del tipo jahn-teller entre fases metaestables y
