No se observo modificacion con la edad en las caracteristicas de la union de insulina a su receptor ni en la estructura nativa del mismo. En el envejecimiento se observo una disminucion en la autofosforilacion del receptor de insulina en respuesta a la hormona, por un mecanismo que afecta a la respuesta maxima a la hormona, no a la sensibilidad a la misma. No se observo alteracion con la edad de la afinidad del receptor por el afp, asi como tampoco por los sustratos sobre los que actua como tirosina fosfotransferasa. El analisis de fosfopeptidos y fosfoaminoacidos mostro un incremento en fosfoserina junto con una disminucion de la cantidad de forma trifosforilada, responsable de la activacion total del receptor como tirosina fosfo transferasa, con el envejecimiento. Por ultimo, nos ha sido posible establecer una correlacion linea positiva entre el efecto de la insulina sobre el consumo metabolico de glucosa y la activacion del receptor como tirosina
