Este estudio se ha abordado con el objetivo principal de involucrar los procesos de progresion tumoral y de diferenciacion intratimicos en la evolucion \u00abin vivo\u00bb del desarrollo oncogenico.  en raton, esta evolucion procede desde una etapa de desarrollo tumoral exclusivamente timica (temprana) hacia la aparicion de tumores en organos linfaticos perifericos (tardia). Los analisis efectuados directamente sobre las muestras tumorales han demostrado:  1) el proceso tumoral manifestado en el timo es de naturaleza mono\/oligoclonal.  2) los tumores desarrollados en organos linfaticos perifericos se han originado a partir del mismo proceso tumoral manifestado en el timo.  3) la adquisicion de independencia del entorno timico en las celulas leucemicas no es producto de la \u00abprogresion tumoral\u00bb del proceso oncogenico.  se desarrollo y caracterizo un sistema \u00abin vitro\u00bb constituido por 35 lineas celulares desarrolladas a partir de los tumores timicos y extratimicos de distintos ratones leucemicos. Se profundizo en la determinacion del grado de diferenciacion de las celulas leucemicas representantes de las etapas temprana y tardia de la leucemia, demostrandose la detencion de la diferenciacion de los timocitos tumorales en el estadio correspondiente al de la transicion doble negativa a doble positiva de la corteza timica normal.  esta fase de detencion del desarrollo es parecida a la observada en leucemias linfoblasticas agudas-t humanas que cursan con masa mediastinica.
