Se estudian codificadores basados en filtrado de prediccion lineal y codificadores sinusoidales. El estudio se centra en la representacion del espectro localizado que cada uno de los algoritmos utiliza, buscando una representacion eficiente del contenido espectral de la voz.  una primera conclusion es que el uso de estrategias multibanda aumenta las prestaciones en ambos casos. Hay diferencias encuanto a complejidad, pero las mejoras son siempre viables.  en segundo lugar se proponen dos nuevos sistemas. El primero se basa en filtrado de prediccion lineal en el dominio de la frecuencia, un algoritmo de cuidada eficiencia selecciona cada una de sus componentes mediante estrategia multibanda. El segundo es un esquema hibrido de prediccion lineal-sinusoidal que permite aunar lo mejor de ambas tecnicas produciendo un codificador mbe-lpc capaz de funcionar a velocidades binarias inferiores a
