Sin embargo, en el contexto de los mallados estructurados, si el area refinada cambia con cada paso de tiempo, aparece un gran numero de nodos, si solo se utiliza refinamiento local. La aparicion de un gran numero de nodos es una clara desventaja de este tipo de mallados.  en esta tesis se presenta un nuevo algoritmo de desrefinamiento, capaz de eliminar los nodos menos significativos, de conservar una buena aproximacion de la soluccion numerica obtenida en el paso de tiempo anterior, e inverso del algoritmo de refinamiento 4-t de rivara. Con la combinacion refinamiento y desrefinamiento, se obtienen secuencias de mallados mas flexibles que aquellos que resultan del uso exclusivo del refinamiento local, con la ventaja adicional de que el numero de ecuaciones se controla durante todo el proceso.  ademas el uso de mallas encajadas hace mas facil utilizar el metodo multimalla para resolver el sistema de ecuaciones asociado. Se ha comprobado la eficacia del algoritmo en diversos problemas estacionarios, quasi-evolutivos y evolutivos, dedicando una especial atencion al problema evolutivo de conveccion-difusion, y se ha dado un paso mas en la progresiva automatizacion de un codigo adaptativo de elementos finistos en 2-d.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos acad\u00e9micos de la tesis doctoral
