Se han estudiado los aspectos moleculares subyacentes al proceso de cuajado y desarrollo partenocarpico del fruto en tomate mediante la comparacion de los productos de traduccion in vitro obtenidos a partir de flores. Se emplearon materiales no partenocarpicos y lineas partenocarpicas derivadas de ellos para los sistemas geneticos pat-2 y pat-3\/pat-4. Las flores fueron recogidas en cuatro estadios abarcando todo el periodo de desarrollo de la flor, boton floral, preantesis, antesis y postantesis a los cuatro dias. Los productos de traduccion se han analizado mediante electroforesis bidimensional (ief\/sds-page) seguido de fluorografia.  los resultados indican la presencia de dos productos se traduccion asociados a la naturaleza partenocarpica del material. Un producto de 30 kda con un punto isoelectrico estimado alrededor de 6.76 con un mayor nivel de expresion en los genotipos partenocarpicos a partir de la fase de preantesis. Un segundo producto con un peos molecular de 33kda con un punto isoelectrico estimado de 5.87 que no se detecta con posterioridad al momento de la antesis para los cultivares no partenocarpicos.  los resultados sugieren una base molecular comun o confluyente en el proceso de cuajado de un fruto partenocarpico de forma natural y la expresion de genes pat con anterioridad al momento en que la flor
