El efecto antitumoral de estos compuestos parece estar mediado por un aumento en los niveles de radicales libres del ox\u00edgeno (ros) lo que provoca una serie de alteraciones en la fisiolog\u00eda mitocondrial que culminan con la activaci\u00f3n de la caspasa 3. Adem\u00e1s estos compuestos inhiben una enzima nadh oxidasa de funci\u00f3n desconocida y espec\u00edfica de c\u00e9ulas tumorales pero que no se encuentra en c\u00e9lulas normales. Esta enzima es la \u00fanica diana celular propuesta para las diarilsulfonilureas (dsu) compuestos a partir de los cuales se han sintetizado los bts, y para otros agentes
