Una propiedad fundamental que comparten los elementos que forman estas poblaciones es la autorreplicacion. En efecto, tanto los seres vivos mas desarrollados como los mas simples son capaces de producir copias de si mismos en un proceso en el que intervienen multiples factores.  en esta tesis han sido estudiados dos aspectos fundamentales de este proceso.  por una parte, el efecto de la interaccion entre especies autorreplicativas durante el proceso de replicacion: la posible capacidad catalitica de las especies; por otra, el efecto de la introduccion de errores durante la replicacion, dando lugar a especies con diferentes propiedades a las originales.  concretamente, este trabajo se ha centrado en el estudio de redes auto-cataliticas formadas por moleculas autorreplicativas con posibilidad de introducir errores.  la deteccion y caracterizacion de los umbrales, tanto de las constantes cataliticas como en la tasa de mutacion que aseguran la permanencia de las especies que forman la red ha guiado basicamente las investigaciones que se
