Aniban Francisco <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Esta tesis presenta una exposicion sistematica y analisis del pensamiento del cardenal newman sobre relaciones iglesia-estado, recogido de sus libros, sermones, y correspondencia. Abarcando temas que son claves para el presente dialogo entre iglesia y estado, a saber:  pluralismo religioso, libertad religiosa, y confesionalidad, la tesis muestra a la vez que la doctrina newmaniana sobre esta materia le justifica ser aclamado como precursor del vaticano ii. Newman siempre habia adoptado un planteamiento historico-empirico del problema. Partiendo de la aceptacion pragmatica del pluralismo religioso en la sociedad moderna, propuso un sistema de relaciones iglesia-estado basado en la neutralidad religiosa del estado. Su planteamiento era una radical ruptura con las formulaciones clasicas medievales basadas en la union entre iglesia y estado con la consiguiente obligacion de este de reconocer y apoyar a la iglesia.
