Se pretende presentar desde el punto de vista -etico- teologico el concepto de vida y el valor que le atribuyen, a fin de contribuir positivamente al dialogo entre la doctrina cristiana y la sociedad y cultura igbo en una cuestion de tanta importancia. La investigacion pone de manifesto que los igbos, gracias a la omenala (tradicion), que es como su habitat moral y su ambiente social caracterizada por algunos autores como \u00abirremediablemente religiosa\u00bb- tienen un concepto de la vida sociologico, filosofico y tambien teologico. Para ellos, la vida no solo es comunitaria, sino tambien un misterio y sobre todo un precioso don de dios- onyineyechi. El valor, profundo respeto y amor por la vida esta claramente manifestado en su nombres propios, en el amor por los hijos, en sus refranes y proverbios.  la vida es primaria- ndu bu isi y es preferida a cualquier otra cosa- nduka y siempre acogida como don de dios- onyinyechi. Cualquier acto contra la vida v.G. El suicidio, aborto o asesinato&#8230; Es reprobado y castigado.  sin embargo, el dialogo con la doctrina cristiana sobre el valor de la vida, nos hace ver que existen algunas aberraciones- como la \u00abasesinatos sacrificiales\u00bb entre otras- que requieren una correcion urgente. Se observa tambien que ese respeto por la vida carece de universalidad, elemento fundamental en la doctrina cristiana.
