Los resultados en la especie humana muestran una clara homolog\u00eda de la corteza cingular posterior entre el primate y el hombre.  sin embargo en la reconstruccion bidimensional se apreciaba una gran heterogeneidad entre individuos. El area 31 destaca con mayor claridad que en el primate, y el area 30 tiene tambien mayor extension.  significativamente, el area 23 mostraba una reduccion en su tama\u00f1o asociada al envejecimiento normal. En la enfermedad de alzheimer el conjunto de la corteza cingular posterior estaba grandemente reducida (un 37%), apreciandose especialmente en las areas 23 y 30. En estos casos tambien se aprecio una gran heterogeneidad entre los distintos casos y la distribucion laminar de la patolog\u00eda, destacando sobre todo la capa iii.
