Todos sus sistemas acuiferos, sin excepcion, sufren extracciones muy superiores a las exiguas entradas que aportan unas precipitaciones que apenas rebasan los 300 mm. Anuales; de esta forma se ha instaurado un sistema de sobreexplotacion de recursos de agua, no siempre disponibles en cantidad y calidad suficientes, sobre los cuales se ha apoyado un interno de puesta en valor del territorio hoy amenazado.  en esta investigacion se ha puesto el acento en los usos agrarios del agua, esto es, en la configuracion de unas 30.000 has.
