Los 2-pirrolcarboxilatos no conducen a oligomeros de cadena conocida sino a polipirrol. Los acoplamientos de los beta-metoxi-2-pirrolcarboxilatos conducen a sistemas dimericos, trimericos y tetramericos los cuales han sido aislados y caracterizados. Tambien se ha estudiado su comportamiento redox. La segunda linea de trabajo seguida se ha centrado en el estudio de las tetrahalobenzoquinonas como oxidantes en la obtencion de polipirrol. Los polimeros han sido caracterizados tanto quimica como fisicamente (rpe, susceptibilidad magnetica, variacion de la   con la temperatura). La oxidacion de pirrol con p-fluoranilo, p-cloranilo, p-bromanilo conduce, ademas de polipirrol conductor, a compuestos de tipo 3,5,6-tricloro-pirrol -2-il-1,4-benzoquinona, la formacion de los cuales explica la presencia de aniones halogenuros en los polimeros aislados. La reaccion de acoplamiento quinona-pirrol se ha ensayado con pirroles di y trisubstituidos, obteniendose en todos los casos pirrol-2-il-quinonas.
