En ellos se expone un estudio sobre la homeostasia del ca2+ celular y la exocitosis en las celulas cromafines. La celula cromafin deriva embriologicamente de la cresta neural y se comporta como una forma altamente especializada de neurona noradrenergica. Por ello, la celula cromafin se ha empleado como modelo del acoplamiento estimulo-secrecion, en el cual un incremento del ca2+ citos\u00f3lico activa la exocitosis.  describimos la funcion de las organelas intracelulares en la distribuicon del ca2+ citosolico y en la secrecion, asi como el efecto de los productos secretados sobre la se\u00f1al de ca2+ citos\u00f3lico. En el comienzo, mostramos, por primera vez, que el ca2+ que entra a traves de los canales dependientes de voltaje es capaz de activar el mecanismo de cicr(ca2+-induced ca2+release). el cicr libera ca2+ del reticulo endoplasmico y amplifica la se\u00f1al de ca2+. el reticulo endoplasmico regula ademas la se\u00f1al secretora gracias al cicr. por otra parte, demostramos que las mitocondrias son capaces de captar concentraciones de ca2+ de hasta casi niveles milimolares, y liberarlo, sin que ello repercuta en la viabilidad celular. Ademas, la tasa de la captacion de ca2 de la mitocondria se hace patente a partir de una concentracion de ca2 citos\u00f3lico de 5 um. La mitocondria, a traves de su regulacion de la homeostasia del ca2, controla el nivel de secrecion que se produce tras un estimulo. De esta manera, evita una activacion excesiva de procesos dependientes de ca2+, como el desemblaje de la actina o la activacion la protein-kinasa c.
