El cristalino esta compuesto por agua, proteinas, azucares, lipidos y solutos de bajo peso molecular. Las proteinas mas abundantes son las cristalinas, siendo la alfa la principal. La insolubilizaci\u00f3n y las modificaciones postraduccionales de las cristalinas pueden alterar la normal estructura del cristalino y producir una opacificacion del mismo.  objetivos. Conocer determinados aspectos del desarrollo postnatal de las cristalinas del cerdo, entre 0,5 y 97 meses de edad, independientemente de la cataratogenesis: agregacion y oxidaci\u00f3n proteica, y determinacion de las subfracciones caracteristicas  de la fraccion soluble en agua mediante gf-hplc.  material y metodos. Se emplearon 17 cerdos de raza mini pig, de entre 0,5 y 97 meses. Se obtuvieron los cristalinos y se estudiaron mediante gf-hplc, espectrofotometria, espectrofluorometria y uso de dnph para cuantificacion de grupos carbonillo.  resultados, discusion y conclusiones. No se encontro variaci\u00f3n de la proporci\u00f3n entre fracci\u00f3n soluble e insoluble en agua con el paso del tiempo ni aumento en el contenido de grupos de carbonilo, posiblemente porque los animales empleados tenian menos de 100 meses de edad. Las subfracciones mas pesadas (276 y 135 kda) fueron mas abundantes(28 y 25,5% espectivamente), independientemente de la edad. Las otras cuatro (62,37,9 y 5 kda) sufrieron aumento o descenso de su contenido en relaci\u00f3n a la edad.
