Jose <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>En esta tesis se aborda el estudio de las respuestas de defensa que desarrollan las semillas de maiz durante la germinacion cuando son infectadas con el hongo f.  moniliforme.  el estudio de la acumulacion de proteinas relacionadas serologicamente con beta-1,3-glucanasas y quitinasas (proteinas pr de las familias pr-2 y pr-3, respectivamente) durante la germinacion indica que las distintas proteinas detectadas presentan una regulacion de la expresion especifica de tejido y que la infeccion con f. Moniliforme regula de forma diferencial la acumulacion de dichas proteinas.  se han aislado los clones de cdna y genomico de un gen de maiz que codifica para un inhibidor de serin-proteinasas homologo a los de la familia i de la patata. Hemos denominado al producto de este gen: mpi (\u00abmaize proteinase inhibitor\u00bb). El gen mpi se expresa en respuesta a infeccion fungica y a herida mecanica en los embriones de maiz, durante la germinacion, pero no en respuesta al tratamiento con elicitores fungicos. Probablemente la expresion del gen mpi en respuesta a infeccion fungica se debe a la herida provocada por el hongo al penetrar en los tejidos y no a un reconocimiento molecular planta-patogeno.  el gen mpi tambien presenta una expresion local y sistemica en las hojas de plantas adultas de maiz en respuesta a la herida mecanica.
