Marcescens n28b, dentro de la especie s.  marcescens. Los resultados obtenidos a partir del estudio de 28 cepas de la especie, representando 15 biotipos diferentes, demuestran que la produccion de una bacteriocina, con caracteristicas muy similares, a nivel funcional y genetico, a la bacteriocina 28b, es un fenomeno ampliamente extendido dentro de la especie.  en segundo lugar, se ha estudiado el mecanismo por el cual la cepa s. Marcescens n28b es insensible a su propia bacteriocina. El estudio se ha basado en el clonaje y caracterizacion de genes de s. Marcescens n28b con capacidad de conferir resistencia a e. Coli frente a la bacteriocina 28b. A partir de este estudio no se ha podido detectar un gen de inmunidad especifico para la bacteriocina 28b, en cambio se han clonado dos genes implicados en la sintesis del lipopolisacarido y un gen de una proteina de membrana externa de s. Marcescens n28b (proteina ompxs), genes con capacidad de conferir a f.  coli resistencia a la bacteriocina 28b. A partir de estos resultados se sugiere que la insensibilidad que presenta la cepa s.
