Adem\u00e1s, se analiza la presencia de neurop\u00e9ptidos tanto en el n\u00facleo en su conjunto como en sus neuronas.  la aplicaci\u00f3n de un nuevo m\u00e9todo densitom\u00e9trico permiti\u00f3 concluir la existencia de dos tipos de neuronas (con altos y bajos valores sist\u00f3licos de gaba) diferentes para cada una de las tres subdivisiones del n\u00facleo. estas neuronas adem\u00e1s mostraron diferencias en otros par\u00e1metros analizados tales como el per\u00edmetro, el n\u00famero de aposiciones inmunoreactivas para gaba o el n\u00famero de aposiciones inmunoreactivas para glicina. Se demostr\u00f3 adem\u00e1s la existencia de variaciones topogr\u00e1ficas graduales (gradientes) en las neuronas con baja reserva citos\u00f3lica, relacionadas con la organizaci\u00f3n laminar del n\u00facleo. Tambi\u00e9n, se encontraron diferencias en el n\u00famero de aposiciones inmunorreactivas y en los valores densitom\u00e9tricos de gaba citos\u00f3licos en las neuronas localizadas en las zonas de procesado de las frecuencias mas bajas del n\u00facleo central del col\u00edculo inferior.  se determin\u00f3 la existencia en el ci mediante densitometr\u00eda de campo amplio, de inmunoreactividad suficiente (en comparaci\u00f3n con n\u00facleos controles positivos y negativos analizados en otros estudios por ria) como para considerar que acth y metencefalina 5 deben ser sustancias neuroactivas
