Los adenomas productores de hormona de crecimiento (somatotropinomas) son uno de los subtipos mas frecuentes y en su tumorigenesis interviene en un porcentaje alto de casos el oncogen gsp, aunque sin consecuencias fenotipicas claras. Recientemente se ha reconocido otro gen implicado en la tumorigenesis pituitaria, denominado hpttg, habiendose relacionado con la invasividad. Por otra parte en el tratamiento de estos adenomas se emplean farmacos analogos de la somatostatina, de la que se han descrito cinco subtipos de receptores (sstr). Los objetivos planteados han sido la evaluacion del oncogen gsp, y de la expresion de hpttg y de los cinco subtipos de sstr en una serie consecutiva de veintiseis pacientes con somatotropinomas, sometidos a tratamiento con analogos e intervenidos con posterioridad, con el fin de correlacionarlos con las clasificaciones histopatologicas actuales. Se realizo un estudio de microscopia electronica e inmunohistoquimica hormonal, correlacionandose la morfolog\u00eda ultraestructural con la capacidad de secrecion hormonal y la respuesta a tratamiento con analogos y la evolucion final. Observamos en ocho casos (31%) mutaciones gsp, demostradas mediante analisis de restriccion introducidos por reaccion en cadena de la polimerasa (pcr), hibridacion aleloespecifica en membrana o secuenciacion no radiactiva, sin un contrapartida fenotipica clara, encontrando cuatro casos con morfolog\u00eda escasamente granulada. La suma de morfolog\u00eda y status gsp mostro una correlacion pronostica. En diez casos (53%)se observo expresion inmunohistoquimica de hpttg, sin relacion a otras caracteristicas tumorales, aunque si a tratamiento quirurgico inadecuado. La expresion de los cinco subtipos de sttr se demostro mediante pcr a partir de adn complementario obtenido tras reaccion de<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos acad\u00e9micos de la tesis doctoral
