Se trata, en definitiva, de explorar los limites que separan ambos periodos desde la reflexi\u00f3n sobre la diferente evoluci\u00f3n que han sufrido conceptos como realismo, referencialidad o ficcionalidad po\u00e9tica.  en primer lugar, la tesis plantea la posibilidad de abrir los limites de la modernidad desde la optica del realismo estetico. Una segunda fase del trabajo tiene como base el establecimiento de un estado de la cuestion sobre el concepto de realismo, aplicado al particular campo de teoria literaria. ello obliga a una revisi\u00f3n bibliogr\u00e1fica sobre el problema teorico planteado por dicho concepto con la finalidad de redefinirlo y establecer las posibles relaciones entre la teoria tradicional y la moderna teoria de la referencialidad. el cuestionamiento de la referencia unido a una revisi\u00f3n teorica de los propios marcos del realismo es, por otra parte, un tema que nos introduce de lleno en el debate sobre la ficcionalidad literaria. Todo ello supone, por fuerza, ampliar el modelo de representacion e incorporar al nuevo modelo una base pragmatica que revise la relacion del arte con la vida en cada momento historico. La ultima parte del trabajo consiste en aplicar el resultado de la revision critica y teorica a un corpus de poetas cuya poetica puede incluirse en una definicion de realismo
