Entre las principales aportaciones de la tesis figura la valoraci\u00f3n de la ense\u00f1anza cient\u00edfico-t\u00e9cnia de la carrera en la escuela, contra lo que se ven\u00eda suponiendo tradicionalmente. Los proyectos \u00abfin de carreras\u00bb de los alumnos, estudiados en detalle, revelan un notorio desenvolvimiento con los nuevos materiales, especialmente el hierro. A ello contribuy\u00f3 mucho el hecho de signar la propede\u00fatica de la carrera a una escuela general preparatoria para ingenieros y arquitectos, que tuvo dos ediciones (1848-55 y 1886-92). Pero a los ingenieros nunca les interes\u00f3. Tras la ley moyano (1857), la escuela de arquitectos se separ\u00f3 definitivamente de la academia de s.
