El trabajo central de la tesis doctoral consiste en el desarrollo de un m\u00e9todo num\u00e9rico para solucionar las ecuaciones ac\u00fasticas y el\u00e1sticas en sistemas peri\u00f3dicos. El m\u00e9todo est\u00e1 basado en t\u00e9cnicas variacionales y resulta de gran aplicabilidad a muchos tipos de sistemas. El rendimiento, en general, del m\u00e9todo es comparable a otras opciones de soluci\u00f3n de las ecuaciones, siendo su m\u00e1xima restricci\u00f3n tratar s\u00f3lo con sistemas peri\u00f3dicos.  el m\u00e9todo se aplica a la obtenci\u00f3n de las propiedades ac\u00fasticas de sistemas de cilindros r\u00edgidos. Estos sistemas consisten en cilindros de diversos materiales situados en diversas redes peri\u00f3dicas bidimensionales. Existen muchos resultados experimentales sobre esos sistemas, y el trabajo desarrollado est\u00e1 enfocado a la explicaci\u00f3n de esos resultados. En este sentido, se llegan a entender las propiedades de atenuaci\u00f3n de los sistemas de cilindrod r\u00edgidos. Por otro lado, tambi\u00e9n se trata la transmisi\u00f3n de sonido a bajas frecuencias dentro de estos sistemas. Se encuentran propiedades nuevas, no observadas antes en ac\u00fasticas, que permiten desarrollar nuevas aplicaciones. en concreto, est\u00e1 estudiada la construcci\u00f3n de una lente ac\u00fastica
