Este algoritmo ha sido desarrollado con vistas  a la compresi\u00f3n de im\u00e1genes biom\u00e9dicas o, m\u00e1s en concreto, fotograf\u00edas digitales de quemadruas.  las ideas principales en que se funda el algoritmo son la segmentaci\u00f3n de la imagen mediante el crecimiento de regiones,la transformaci\u00f3n entera del espacio de representaci\u00f3n del color y la predicci\u00f3n basada en el contexto.Con respecto al crecimiento de regiones, el algoritmo aporta una forma novedosa de llevar a cabo el crecimiento de regiones en tres dimensiones.  el algoritmo presentado consigue una mejora sustancial, en cuanto a tasas de compresi\u00f3n, con respecto a los m\u00e1s moderno est\u00e1ndares de compresi\u00f3n sin p\u00e9rdidas.As\u00ed, las im\u00e1genes comprimidas con el est\u00e1ndar de compresi\u00f3n sin p\u00e9rdidas jpeg-ls (joint photographic experts gropup-lossless) ocupan en media, 1,17 bits\/p\u00edxel m\u00e1s que cuando se comprimen con el algortimo propuesto. A su vez,la fotograf\u00edas digitales de quemaduras ocupan 3,11 bits\/p\u00edxel m\u00e1s al comprimirlas con jpeg-ls.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos acad\u00e9micos de la tesis doctoral
