Tras un estudio teorico sobre la propagacion de ondas electromagneticas, en el que se particulariza para la banda de frecuencias de operacion del geo-radar (100 mhz-1 ghz) y los medios susceptibles de prospeccion (medios poco conductores), teniendo en cuenta las caracteristicas de los equipos empleados, se discuten los resultados obtenidos con el radar en estudios de muy diversa indole, persiguiendo la comprobacion de resultados, bien mediante excavacion directa o mediante el uso paralelo de otras tecnicas de prospeccion. Estas aplicaciones se han dividido en tres grupos: los estudios de tipo cualitativo incluyen la localizacion de cavidades, galerias subterraneas, zonas contaminadas del subsuelo y yacimientos arqueologicos. En los estudios de tipo semicuantitativo se da un paso adelante en el reconocimiento de ciertos parametros del medio de propagacion, tales como su porosidad, que son utilizados para caracterizar este. Finalmente, en los estudios cuantitativos se propone un modelo teorico de propagacion del impulso del geo-radar en sistemas multicapa que es aplicado para calcular el espesor y los parametros
