En este estudio se confirma mediante t\u00e9cnicas gen\u00e9ticas y ultraestructurales que la especie del g\u00e9nero perkinsus presente en la almeja fina de galicia es perkinsus atlanticus.  se ha caracterizado un patr\u00f3n anual de din\u00e1mica de la perkinsosis en un banco natural gallego de almeja fina, asociado estrechamente al ciclo anual de temperatura. Se ha comprobado que la zoosporulaci\u00f3n de p. Atlanticus ocurre en una mplio rango de temperaturas y salinidades, que abarcan respectivamente los 15-32\u00c2\u00bac y los 10-35 g\/l. Se han establecido cultivos in vitro de p. altanticus, y se ha demostrado la presencia de fosfatasas, esterasas, lipasas y glucosidaas en los productos secretados por las c\u00e9lulas de p. Atlanticus cultivadas in vitro. Pero no se han detectado proteasas del tipo tripsina y l-quimotripsina, relacionadas con la patogenicidad en otras especies del g\u00e9nero perkinsus.  la perkinsosis es responsable de una moderada mortalidad de la almeja fina en el banco natural, no se ha detectado un efecto significativo de la parkinosis en la fisiolog\u00eda energ\u00e9tica de la almeja, aunque el consumo de energ\u00eda del par\u00e1sito, que utiliza parte de la energ\u00eda de la que dispone la almeja, provocar\u00eda una disminuci\u00f3n significativa del \u00edndice de condici\u00f3n en los casos de mayor parasitaci\u00f3n. La parasitaci\u00f3n provoca una disminuci\u00f3n significativa de la capacidad reproductora de la almeja. Se describen la nueva especie perkinsus medieterraneus n.Sp.
