A continuaci\u00f3n se propone un modelo constitutivo quimico-mecanico para arcillas expansivas que establece un fuerte acoplamiento entre los problemas thm y de transporte reactivo.  en la formulaci\u00f3n de transporte reactivo, varias especies disueltas en la fase liquida se transportan a traves del medio poroso y reaccionan quimicamente entre si en la fase liquida (reacciones homogeneas) o con otras especies en la fase solida (reacciones heterogeneas). Los principales procesos incorporados en el modelo geoquimico son: formacion de complejos acuosos, reacciones de oxidacion\/reduccion, reacciones acido\/base, disolucion\/precipitacion de minerales e intercambio de cationes. Los mecanismos de transporte considerados para las especies en la fase liquida son difusion molecular, dispersion mecanica y adveccion.  las variables basicas de las ecuaciones de transporte reactivo son las concentraciones totales (que incluyen los minerales precipitados en equilibrio local) y para resolver el equilibrio quimico se utiliza un algoritmo basado en la minimizaci\u00f3n directa de la energia libre de gibbs. En esta formulaci\u00f3n es posible resolver las ecuaciones del problema de equilibrio quimico (algebraicas) separadamente de las ecuaciones de transporte (en derivadas parciales). la formulaci\u00f3n ha sido implementada en el programa de elementos finitos code-bright, que utiliza el metodo de newton-raphson para resolver el sistema no lineal resultante de la discretizacion de las ecuaciones de transporte reactivo.  en el modelo quimico-mecanico, se incorpora la influencia de acciones quimicas tales como cambios de succion osmotica e intercambio de cationes en el comportamiento mecanico de las arcillas expansivas.
