Sin duda la energ\u00eda solar fotovoltaica es el terreno de aplicaci\u00f3n m\u00e1s importante (el otro es la optoelectr\u00f3nica). La estrella es la concentraci\u00f3n, t\u00e9cnica que busca minimizar el coste del sistema fotovoltaico por reducci\u00f3n del \u00e1rea de c\u00e9lula solar utilizada (que es muy cara), sobre la cual se hace incidir luz solar concentrada para mantener su producci\u00f3n energ\u00e9tica.  en el cap\u00edtulo 1 se plantea un m\u00e9todo de dise\u00f1o tridimensional que se apoya en el c\u00e1lculo variacional para resolver problemas de optimizaci\u00f3n en la colminaci\u00f3n del haz emitido por diodos emisores de luz (led).  a continuaci\u00f3n (cap\u00edtulo 2) demostramos como id\u00e9nticas herramientas permiten opitmizar tambi\u00e9n el patr\u00f3n de iluminaci\u00f3n solar sobre c\u00e9lulas solars en concentradores lineales con el criterio de maximizar la eficiencia de conversi\u00f3n de dichas c\u00e9lulas.  el tercer desarrollo te\u00f3rico (cap\u00edtulo 3) demuestra las ventajas inmediatas que acompa\u00f1an al uso de concentradores est\u00e1ticos en integraci\u00f3n arquitect\u00f3nica. los tres \u00faltimos cap\u00edtulos est\u00e1n dedicados a un \u00fanico dispositivo (dise\u00f1o, fabricaci\u00f3n y medida), el concentrador dsmts (dielectric single mirror two stage concentrador), sistema que, al estar dise\u00f1ado con herramientas anid\u00f3licas, alcanza unas propiedades \u00f3pticas muy notable, ejemplificadas en su alta
