Las columnas de celulas del periciclo, sus celulas pueden dividirse anticlinalmente dando lugar a zonas mas o menos extensas donde la columna se subdivide en dos.  la citocalasina-d inhibe la elongacion celular, aproxima los niveles de diferenciacion tisular hacia el extremo apical, inhibe la proliferacion celular, inhibe la expansion transversal del cilindro vascular.
