La tesis esta dividida en tres capitulos de orientacion teorica y un cuarto que es el estudio empirico.  los tres primeros capitulos analizan cuestiones relevantes para el estudio empirico tales como la adquisicion de segundas lenguas y de lenguas extranjeras, el concepto de transferencia y el significado que dicho termino tendra en el estudio empirico y el analisis de los tiempos verbales que nos ocupan. El estudio empirico analiza cualitativa y cuantitativamente la produccion oral y escrita obtenida en un estudio longitudinal de 20 sujetos y en un estudio transversal de 80 sujetos, todos ellos estudiantes de bachillerato en barcelona. Los datos demuestran que la lengua materna influye de modo diverso en la adquisicion y uso del \u00abpresent continuous\u00bb, \u00absimple past\u00bb y \u00abpresent perfect\u00bb ingleses y que la
