Uno de los marcadores citados (16s arnr) permite identificar las cuatro especies, mientras que los dem\u00e1s solo permiten identificar un n\u00famero menor. Asimismo, se han obtenido anticuerpos especificos frente a las proteinas solubles de las distintas especies de almejas.
