En este sentido, la investigacion se centra en el estudio tecnico del primer antecedente relativo a la propulsion de los navios sin necesidad de remos ni velas, que tiene lugar en espa\u00f1a en el s. Xvi y que se atribuye a blasco de garay. La relacion de su ingenio con otros semejantes, permite abordar el estudio de todos aquellos proyectos, relacionados con la propulsion automecanica anteriores a la aplicacion del vapor, como fuerza motriz. El estudio se encuentra dividido en tres grandes areas:  a.- Antecedentes mecanicos en la propulsion naval b.- Blasco de garay: su ingenio c.- Estudio tecnico del ingenio de blasco de garay el empleo de los metodos analiticos y experimentales, en el tratamiento del hecho historico, permite la comprobacion de los datos aportados por blasco de garay, definiendo su verdadera aportacion a la historia
