El transcrito de este genes de 1.8 kb y su vida media de aproximadamente 35 min. Se han caracterizado dos mutantes bajo productores de candicidina parcialmente desregulados por fosfato, y cuatro mutantes no productores de candicidina.  la produccion de candicidina en streptomyces acrimycini ji2236 se encuentra regulada por fosfato, al igual que su actividad paba sintasa. Su gen pabs es similar al gen pabs de s. Griseus. La introduccion de multiples copias del gen pabs no aumenta significativamente la actividad paba sintasa.  se ha construido dos vectores sonda para busqueda de promotores en streptomyces uno de ellos bifuncional e.  coli &#8211; streptomyces (pulja30) y el otro contenido el gen sin promotor lac de s. Lividans (pulja20).  se ha caracterizado un fragmento de 114 pb la actividad promotora bidireccional y regulado por fosfato en streptomyces. Su region de control por fosfato tiene un 66% de homolog\u00eda con la caja de fosfato del regulon pho de e.
