Camino <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Escherichia coli k-92 produce 450 ug\/ml de acidos polisialicos en un medio definido que contiene xilosa y asparagina como fuentes de carbono y nitrogeno. La sintesis del polimero es maxima a 37 grados c y a un ph de 8,0. Se ha purificado la cmp-neu5ac sintetasa de e.Coli k-235 y e.Coli k-92, mostrando un peso molecular de 88000. Las celulas de e.Coli k-235 tienen una actividad cmp-neu5ac sintetasica maxima a las 20 horas de incubacion a 37 grados c, siendo su vida media de 17 horas. El crecimiento de e.Coli k-92 es de tipo diauxico, siendo maxima la actividad cmp-neu5ac sintetasica a las 15 horas y apareciendo un segundo pico de actividad a las 40 horas. La vida media para esta enzima es de 12 horas.  las energias de activacion calculadas son: 6,29 kcal\/mol para las temperaturas altas y 17,36 kcal\/mol para las bajas, siendo la temperatura de transicion de 30 grados c. El ph optimo es de 9,5 y la t optima es de 37 grados c. Las constantes de michaelis para el neu5ac son de 26 mm en e.Coli k-235 y 10,4 mm en e.Coli k-92.
