Se han realizado estudios in vitro, donde se ha observado que el lps se une a la membrana plasmatica, principalmente a las microvellosidades, y posteriormente se interna en la celula y se localiza en las gotas lipidicas. Para los estudios realizados in vivo, se ha utilizado un modelo de shock endotoxico reversible, establecido en rata por la administracion de lps. In vivo, las endotoxinas no ocasionan graves da\u00f1os morfologicos en la glandula adrenal; sin embargo, si se observa una disminucion de las gotas lipidicas y un aumento del tama\u00f1o glandular.
