Comenzo a plantearse en el verano de 1950, se celebro en Madrid entre octubre de 1951 y febrero de 1952 y termino con la celebracion en barcelona de una exposicion antologica sobre la misma.  la i bienal no solo fue la edicion que puso en marcha el certamen, que tendra dos ediciones mas, sino que fue y sigue siendo considerada como el primer y mas trascendental acontecimiento artistico de la espa\u00f1a de los 50.  hemos estudiado la abundante literatura que produjo precisando la valoracion que se ha hecho del acontecimiento; hemos situado al mismo en su contexto, socio-politico y cultural; hemos estudiado sus polemicos origenes y su configuracion, los rechazos y adhesiones que octuvo de los artistas y paises invitados, el sistema de seleccion y la participacion, la instalacion, las inauguraciones y celebracion de la i bienal en Madrid y \u00ablas contrabienales\u00bb en paris y america, la virulenta y trascendental polemica artistica que origino y el exito del certamen.  de todo ello hemos concluido que la i bienal fue un gran exito de profundisima trascendencia en el arte espa\u00f1ol.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Datos acad\u00e9micos de la tesis doctoral
